Q: Why do we charge an annual license?

Beekeeping scales send anonymized data to our servers so you can view them from the comfort of your home on your mobile or web browser. Running these servers costs money monthly. At the same time, we are constantly developing the application and want to continue developing it. An annual license allows us to ensure long-term support and development of the application. Even if you decide not to buy a license, the basic parameters of scale and temperature measurement will be fully functional.

Q: What if I stop paying the license?

Remote access to scale and temperature measurement data is forever free. Only some features will be limited.

Q: What is the SIM card fee?

The IoT product variant has a special IoT SIM card with free activation for 1 year, the next year costs €18. This is a mobile operator fee that we only charge you. It ensures the scale connection to the internet and sending data to our servers. If you have wifi available at the location, choose the WiFi variant, where an IoT SIM card is not needed.

Q: Can I view measurements directly at the location without mobile data?

Yes, it is possible to connect to the unit via WiFi network. Basic measured values can be displayed.

Q: Is the weight sensor suitable for Langstroth or other sized hives?

Yes, but it is necessary to use a pad to distribute the weight over the entire surface of the scale. In our offer we have a waterproof plywood scale cover that can be purchased additionally.

Q: Is it possible to just try the VELUBEE Hive scale?

Yes, the customer pays the full price for the device. Within 30 days, the customer can return the Bee Scale. The customer gets 100% of the price back.

Q: Is professional installation necessary?

The beekeeper can install the device according to the instructions. We have an instructional video available.

Q: I have electricity at the location. Can I power the VELUBEE HIVE scale from the electrical grid?

Yes, according to customer needs, the unit can be powered via USB, 12V or adapter from 230V mains. Therefore, solar panel and battery are not needed. (The customer specifies this variant in the e-shop order)

Q: What is the difference between VELUBEE HIVE and VELUBEE ONE scales?

VELUBEE HIVE is the basic hive scale set for 1 hive. The control unit of this scale can send data to the beekeeping application through WiFi or IoT(4G). VELUBEE ONE is a hive scale that expands the possibility of sensing weight and temperature of another hive at a location where there is already an existing VELUBEE HIVE scale set. Thanks to the CAN BUS data bus, these sets can be connected in series. This achieves the possibility to monitor multiple hives within one location.
